The Riverside County Low-Cost Car Seat and Booster Seat Program is designed to assist families who may struggle to afford these essential safety devices.
Eligibility: Riverside County residents who meet income guidelines, such as those enrolled in low-income programs like Medi-Cal or WIC, are eligible to participate.
Registration: Interested families need to register for the program by calling (800) 455-4942. Be prepared to provide your child’s name, date of birth, current weight or child’s due date.
Education: Participants are required to attend a virtual educational workshop, available in English and Spanish. The workshop covers the proper use and installation of car seats and booster seats and explains current California laws to keep children safe in the car.
Distribution: Once the virtual educational workshop is completed, families are scheduled for a curbside pick up for their new car seat or booster seat. Pick up events are offered monthly at approximately four locations throughout Riverside County.
Fee: The program is partially funded by a $35 fee (per car seat) paid by all participants prior to attending a Pick up event.
Support: Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians are available to answer questions and provide additional support to ensure the seats are used correctly.
